Through Notice No. 6/GBM/2026, the Bank of Mozambique has approved new rules on data processing and storage by credit institutions and financial companies, covering data centres, IT systems, cloud computing, information security, business continuity and the contracting of technology providers. The new regime is not a documentation update: it requires a review of the technology architecture and of existing contracts, placing decisions that traditionally belonged to IT under legal and regulatory scrutiny.
